The Time Is Now

Finding Your Time

No matter what time it is, the time is now to start reaching toward your tiny living goals. But, before you dive in to floor plans, budgets, or big decisions, there’s an important step you need to take— identifying why you’re drawn to tiny living in the first place. When you name that and keep it front and center, everything that follows feels less overwhelming and far more intentional.

I believe that tiny living doesn’t start with a house — it starts with clarity and direction. We are here to support you as you identify your true motivating factors and create the momentum you need to keep moving forward.

Why Is Tiny Living Calling You?

List of 12 reasons people choose to live in a tiny home

Everyone comes to the tiny home lifestyle for different reasons.

For some, a tiny home is about freedom — from financial stress, excess belongings, or a lifestyle that feels too big and too busy. For others, it’s about family, sustainability, creativity, or finally living in a way that aligns with their values.

Over the years, we’ve heard thousands of stories. And while every journey is unique, the reasons people are drawn to tiny living consistently show up in twelve core motivations. These twelve reasons are represented by the numbers on a clock.

These aren’t just practical considerations — they’re deeply rooted motivations. And they matter.. That’s why clarity is the foundation of turning tiny living dreams into reality. And, why now is the perfect time to slow down and notice which of these reasons keep rising to the surface for you.

The Time Is Now

The Time is Now to start your journey to tiny living. We invite you to identify what’s truly motivating your tiny living dreams through a simple reflection we call The Time Is Now. It’s important to keep those goals top of mind. Doing so will help you to identify options and create possibilities.

How It Works

1. Discover Your Time
Look through the list of common reasons people are drawn to tiny living. Each number represents a different motivation. There are no right or wrong answers — only what resonates most with you.

2. Complete Your Clock
Choose one main reason and one secondary reason. Imagine the hour hand pointing to the number of your primary motivation, and the minute hand pointing to the number of your secondary one.

That combination becomes a snapshot of why this journey matters to you.

3. Set Your Alarm
Set an alarm on your phone for that exact time. Let it be a gentle, daily reminder of what you’re creating space for — and why simplicity keeps calling you.

At TinyFest, you’ll have the chance to turn this reflection into something tangible with a clock sticker and shared celebration. You can take Instagram photos with our Big Clock, display your sticker to proudly show what motivates you, meet other people who share your reasons for going tiny, and have more productive conversations with vendors.

The Right Time for Direction

TinyFest is only once a year, but the clarity and direction start now. This activity isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about naming what matters most to you right now and keeping it in the forefront of your mind.

When I started tiny living my goals were different. My “time” was 12:40. I wanted to be able to spend time with each of my daughters, though they lived far apart. I wanted to be able to explore and live in different areas of the country, but I didn’t want to ‘live’ in short-term rentals. I wanted my own home. A tiny home was the perfect solution and I’m grateful that I made it happen.

I have achieved those goals and am ready for new ones. Now, I’m leveraging the low cost of living that my tiny home provides to help achieve early retirement and to travel abroad more. This won’t magically happen all by itself though. My 9:30am alarm is a daily reminder of my goals, the benefits of tiny living and the direction I want them to take me.

What direction will your goals take you?
